Summer is getting nearer and we are lovin' it! Last weekend, we went to a great family event, a chili cook-off. All the local restaurants try their hand at chili. You to sample all of them and then vote on your favorite. And while you're at it, there are games for the kids (spin the wheel and win either a small cheap toy or a large cheap toy), cake walk, and bouncy house/slide and airplane. We got snow cones for the kids – Simone's first and she devoured the whole thing (well, about a third went down her shirt). But it was perfect for a 90 degree day!

And with this hot weather, the girls have spent hours outside having "tea" parties. They can pour water over and over for hours! Simone loves to make tea for our cat, Nick. Occasionally, he will take a few sips and Simone squeals with delight.

Keith and I went on a big date! In fact, our first date to SEATTLE since we've had kids! We got free tickets to Teatro Zinzanni, a European dinner theater, and the girls stayed overnight at Grammy's! We got all gussied up and had a lot of fun! Meanwhile, Grammy took the girls to Chuck E. Cheese and they had a blast.

Oh yes, and one last photo explanation. Amelia has been begging me for some new flip-flops. I spotted these silver sequin ones that had her name all over them. She is totally into them and has been wearing them everywhere. And the last picture of Simone is for Aunt Kate (thought she's like the dress.)

How sweet watching Simone make tea for Nick. I especially loved watching her walk back in forth in her little Teva's. I should've taken pictures at Chuck E. Cheese. To quote Amelia, "We're having more fun than Mommy & Daddy on their date."
