Cannon Beach vacation

The girls heading off to the swimming pool

Simone loved fetching buckets of water to mix with the sand

Reading with Great Grandma; she came for the day

This basically sums up our vacation; kids gone wild…

parents tired.

We just returned from Cannon Beach for the week. We had a pretty nice time; you can't expect more than that with three kids in tow! But we had a lot of good quality family time. Keith really needed that, since he has been so busy this summer.

The girls really enjoyed the beach. The weather was really good. Some overcast, but warm and not windy until the last day. We stayed at the Hallmark Suites; a large hotel room with one bedroom, plus another king size bed and a kitchenette. We ate almost all of our meals in the room, so that saved on money. We did let Isabel go for a horse ride on the beach, since that was the only thing she requested and had to put up with vacationing with little ones. Amelia got to go on a short horse ride, too, which she was thrilled about. We walked on the beach every night; even had a fire one night and then would come home to watch the Olympics.

We decided that yes, Cannon Beach is quite popular and busy and expensive, but it is definitely worth it. It is ultra family friendly, beautifully landscaped, incredible beaches, good food, and just all-around awesome. Now, if we could just find the perfect place to stay. We're still working on that. Maybe next summer…

don't forget to check out the blog below, too. It's also new.

More cousins…

I'm way behind on updating the blog because we've been in Cannon Beach for the last week and didn't have internet.
So, I'll have to back track a bit. Alex and Sophie (their golden retriever) joined Kate and Ella here with us for 4 days. It was really nice having Alex here; Keith really needed a little extra male energy! The weather was nice; sunny but not too hot and we spent time at our favorite places; Faye Bainbridge State Park (beach), Fort Ward, etc. It seemed, though, that at least one of the girls was losing it at any given time. It's a good thing they are so cute! Vacations and visits will be that much easier and more fun the older they get.

We all miss them and can't wait to go to Colorado to visit!
