Aunt Shauna came for a nice visit last week. She was here for 4 days and we got to do a lot of fun things. One thing we look forward to every summer is the Kitsap County Fair. The kids love it, to say the least! We spent a couple of hours looking at all the animals in the barns (sheep, goats, horses, chickens, rabbits, llamas, cows, etc), ate our lunch, then went on some rides. I should clarify – the kids went on the rides and poor Aunt Shauna had to accompany them. But she was a good sport and the kids had lots of fun. Since we got in free (thanks to the summer reading program at the library) and packed our lunch, we saved our money for the rides (which cost a fortune!) and a huge ice cream (little girls) and nutella crepes (big girls).
The highlight was probably getting their faces painted by the clowns (only $1!) There were about 100 pictures to choose from; Amelia chose a unicorn, of course. I asked Simone what she wanted. Did she want a butterfly? No, a dider. ladybug? No, dider. flower? No, dider! Ice cream, lolipop, teddybear, rainbow??? "NOOOO Mommy! A DIDER!" So, Simone got a spider painted on her cheek. The lady put some gold sparkles on it to make it a little more "girly." And let me tell you, she was sooooo proud of her cheek!
This week we are "just chillin' out," as Amelia would say. Next week we go to Oregon and then school starts on the 22nd.
