We had a super-fun weekend with our "new" cousins! My step-brother (also named Keith) and his wife, Laura, and kids, Thomas (8) and Lauren (6), came from Connecticut for the week. I hadn't seen Laura in about 12 years and had never met the kids. I wasn't sure how the kids would all get along, but it turned out better than we ever expected! Lauren and Amelia spent a lot of time together drawing and writing and Thomas and Simone were inseparable! Who would have thought? He was soooo sweet to her! He helped push her around on the tricycle, would carry her, talk to her and tend to her. It was adorable. She, of course, loved him and when I mention his name to her now, she lights up and gets very excited.
During the week, we went to the aquarium, the park, spent time with Grammy and Papa Jack (Keith's dad), watched "The Wizard of Oz" (their kids' first time, our kids 100th time) and seemed to eat lots and lots of food. Every meal consisted of 8-10 people! But we managed to pull it off without too much fuss and really enjoyed having them here. I was sad to see them go; I loved watching the kids together and I really enjoyed the time with Laura. It's so nice spending quality time with another mom! We hope that we see them again before too many years pass.
