The girls were thrilled to be able to sleep in sleeping bags. Unfortunately, Simone had never slept "un-contained" before and just couldn't stay in the bag.
But it was fun while it lasted.

The girls and I just returned from a week down in Salem, Oregon. We picked up Mom in Silverdale last Sunday and headed down to Aunt Julie's. It was a jam-packed week with lots of fun and activities! The girls had a blast and were soooooo well behaved at Aunt Julie's. Monday morning I met a friend of mine from elementary school who now lives in Hawaii. It was nice catching up and since I was on a sentimental role sans kids, I decided to drive to the house we used to live in. I found it no problem and even felt brave enough to knock on the door! The people were super nice and let me in for a tour. I immediately got choked up – so much of it was UNCHANGED! I couldn't believe it! Over 25 years later and it looked almost exactly the same inside. The same oak cabinets with woodgrain formica counter tops in the kitchen! The same blue and pink flowered wallpaper in the bathroom! The visit was sooooo cathartic for me. Monday was also Uncle Mike's birthday, and he's very into bikes (as in Harley's), so I made him a cute cake for his party. And my half-brother, Clarke, stopped by during the party for a quick visit. It was quite the day!
Tuesday morning the girls and I met Grandpa Rod down at the Waterfront Park to ride the carousel and play on the playground. Amelia practiced the monkey bars over and over while Simone went down the slide. Then Rod took us to a great little bakery where we devoured delicious paninis and cookies. Wednesday I spent the afternoon school shopping for Amelia at the Woodburn Outlet stores while my mom and Julie watched the girls. That night we took them to Chuck E. Cheese where we met Grandma Susie. The girls had almost as much fun as if we had gone to DisneyLand. We "partied" until 8:30! The girls had the most fun picking out their prizes with the tickets they won; pretend earrings (look closely at the pictures), sparkle gel, beaded rings, small Tootsie Pops and Groucho glasses.
The only thing we didn't get to do was go to the Enchanted Forest… I'll guess we'll just have to go back!
Yep, you pretty much covered the entire week in pictures. I agree that the girls were very well behaved and made us laugh alot. What cuties and so smart, too! Do you think Julie will ever invite us back???
ReplyDeleteWow, busy busy busy! Sounds like the girls really enjoyed their vacation. They have such stressful lives and all, I'm glad they were able to have a vacation!
ReplyDeleteCome on back, any old time. I love your girls so much and wished we lived closer.
